The Montgomery-Floyd Regional Library System is seeking a dedicated, friendly, and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Library Associate. This part-time (20 hours per week) position plays a key role in connecting the community to library services and materials by staffing and driving the Mobile Library.
Duties include safely and efficiently operating the mobile library in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and procedures; providing direct patron assistance at mobile library stops; shelving materials; providing Reader’s Advisory and library reference services in compliance with standard professional practices; using library databases and reference materials to respond to patron requests; assisting patrons with use of library equipment and services including digital access, and e-books; and assisting with planning and implementing library programming and outreach based out of the Mobile Library. This position involves significant outdoor work at Mobile Library stops and may require occasional evening and weekend hours. Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent is required; library experience preferred. Applicants should have excellent oral and written communication skills, computer skills, and experience with Microsoft Office. A valid Virginia Driver’s License is required and must be in good standing. Background check, drug screening, which includes THC, and DMV screening are required. Starting salary $17.80 per hour, plus some benefits.
